LOL man
Ask away Singleshot. I think some one posted a link to a good thread on jigging, it should be on one of these threads.

Rare, Is that a sharkskin suit?
Thanks for all the replies, I will have a lot of questions, never fished the Selegs b/4 so I don't even know if my feet will be wet or dry!
Merry Christmas to all!

Singleshot, the boat is pretty high in the water but it doesn't hurt to bring some type of boat shoes that will keep your feet a bit dry.

They sell beer $2 each for Bud and Budlight.

OK Rob762, Russ/go4em, and I have a deposit on the first 3 spots from the stern corner. Pretty sure they will only be booking one side of the boat so get your deposit in quick for a good spot. (Not that there's a bad one)

"Boots , shorts and no shirt... Hey Pat, do they have beer?"
I hope we can dress like that! I know it got really cold last winter here in Okeechobee, down below freezing. I'll just check the weather report and I'll know if I need to bring some warm clothes. I am NOT going to wear that Searsucker suit from Cox's as Rare suggested!
Would you guys help me out with some tackle suggestions?
I have 6' and 7' Penn Slammer rods rated up to 50lbs that I think would be ok for jigging.
Also have a 2 speed Penn 12 reel and an Accurate Boss Mag, 6 to 1 gear ratio, these reels may be a little heavy for jigging all day, what do you think?
What do you reccomend for line? I plan on spooling up with spectra and use a flourocarbon leader. What pound tests would be right for this trip?
I plan on getting some Williamson Vortex jigs as suggested earlier in this post. Would some heavy leadhead bucktails with gulp curly tails attached be usefull? What are your favorite jigs and colors?
Are bite offs a problem and if they are would short wire leaders be usefull?
I guess out there in the ocean we could see just about any kind of fish! Do you keep a rod ready in case we would run into a school of tuna or see a wahoo or dolphin cruising. If so, what would you use, spinning or conventional and how would you rig, including lure?
That's all for now, I'm sure that I'll think of some more questions later. Thanks in advance for your help,
Bill

Re: Sealegs Jigging Trip - Sunday January 29th- IS A GO
I'll let others comment on the gear, but for line I would go with at least 50 lb braid with a 3 to 4 foot Fluoro leader of 65 or better. For the next few trips I'll be using my 870 spooled with 65 braid and a 65 fluoro leader on a 7' 30-60 Chaos. Not ideal but the 2 speed reel should help if I manage to hook into a bigger fish. I'm working on a spinner setup now but that will depend on delivery for this weekend, I will have it for the 29th. I got one good hookup on Reward, and that fish chewed through my 40 lb fluoro in less than a minute. 40 sounds big, but for this it's just not enough IMHO.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!
