Easy to make spoon

Post by bait shooter »

Realy easy way to make a spoon , of almost any size , is to use spinner blades . Simply select size of spoon you want , and by using the appropriate size spinner blade , and hook combination , Solder the hook onto the blade .I generally use willow leaf style blades , but most blades will work ok . Be sure to thoroughly clean and flux both the area of the blade , where applying the solder , and the shank of the hook , before heating . You can use a soldering iron , or gun . I have a torch that I use . To me , a torch is easier , but both will work . You may have to experiment with several different hooks , to find one that the solder will bond to . Be carefull that the hook is lined up on the center of the blade , or the whole thing may spin , insted of wobbling . Remove any excess flux after cooling . Finish by adding a split ring of appropriate size , to alloy freedom of movement , when retrieving . Top off with a sliver of natural bait , to leave a scent trail behind bait , as it moves through the water . I have been doing this for several years , with lots of luck . Bass , crappie , trout , pearch , bluegills , and pickeral all seem to love it . Depending upon conditions , I sometimes add a split-shot a couple of feet ahead of the spoon to provide sufficient weight for casting .
