Whats your opinion?
Im new to the site and I figured I'd ask you folks about a reel. I recently had a choice to make about an extra spinning reel. The choice was between a Penn Sargus (and older model) and a new Daiwa Regal Plus 4000BRI. Now I did my research and my thing was the specs. I was looking for a reel that was similar to the Penn Battle because I played with one and fell in love with it but didnt want to have the wife chew me out for dropping 109 on a reel so I hit the web. I narrowed it down to a Sargus but found a 2010 Regal Plus 4000BRI. Price was different I found the Regal at a pawn shop for 45.00 brand new in the box w/ an extra spool. Or the Sargus that was used for more money and had no extra spool. I went with the Daiwa.... This is the part where you guys tell me how stupid or how smart I was in my decision. Plz dont hold back LOL

as long as you are happy with the reel than I guess you came out alright, you didn't get that good of a deal on it, they are are like $50-60 at Walmart. If you wanted something closer to the battle but couldn't afford the battle or the sargus you could have gotten a fierce $60-$70

Lol, I ordered a battle 8000 from charkbait a couple weeks ago, can't wait to get it, unfortunately it is not here yet because the Avet I ordered along with it is taking forever for them to get to send to me.rare wrote:He bought the reel already- can't go with the battle! Im actually thrilled about the Daiwa. It's brought in a 7 lb Sheepshead and a few other decent sized fish and the action is smooth and the bite and run feature is fun to deal with when we're running 3 or 4 rigs. Besides when the wife isnt looking at the bank account online the Battle will be mine. Either that or I can sedate her for a week

LIES!!!!!.....LOL At least if this reel gets stolen by a reel eating Stingray I wont be too sad about it. Thanks fir the input guys. I do have to make a decision on a serious spinning reel soon and I kinda wanted to have something to play with in the meantime so I picked this up. Any suggestions for a price range of about 100-250 dollars? In the 4k or 5k size region

Re: Whats your opinion?
Well I'm not entirely sure what exactly is going on with the Avet, I called and they told me something about Avet not producing reels at the moment and it would take a couple more weeks before they get more in from them, they also said they can ship me the battle now and ship me the avet when it comes in, I said ok, I still haven't received it nor a tracking number or anything, so I guess they just forgot. I'll be calling again towards the end of the week to check the status of everything.rare wrote:Does it have anything to do with you changing the line you requested? If not, what is going on? Unless they are shipping everything as one?!Surge101 wrote:Lol, I ordered a battle 8000 from charkbait a couple weeks ago, can't wait to get it, unfortunately it is not here yet because the Avet I ordered along with it is taking forever for them to get to send to me.

OMG that Saltist is EPIC WINNNNNNNNN. Like Charlie Sheen drinking Tigers blood. Gonna look around a lil bit more but since I have the Regal and I really like it the Daiwa Saltist seems to be a good choice. Thanks bro

Tarp; I got a Regal Ultra lite I bought for Smallies in Canada. I use it for Gog's now. No matter what anybody say's, that is one tough little reel! I love it.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

I really wish they could have told us on the website or something that they don't have the reels in stock and it's taking forever to get them, I definitely would have paid a little extra and bought it locally if I knew it would be this long.linh wrote:Charkbait is taking a little long my avet reel also. Guys..... Thank you for all your input. Ive made my decision and Im gonna go with the Daiwa Salitist STT4500H for the win
. I have enjoyed my cheapo Regal reel and Im gonna trust the forum more than the salesman at the tackle shop. Besides I wanna venture out on some beach fishing and if something with ass behind it snags my bait I wanna make sure my reel doesnt burst into flames from a shark or something else heavy and fast stealing line at the 100 mph

Charkbait drop shipps many of their reel's direct from the manufacturer. Don't know if this is the case here but could be one reason. They don't find out until the reel is back ordered. They are a little slow in changing "in stock" item's to "out of stock" though.

Yah, I was kind of upset when I went to Capt Harry's yesterday and saw the same Avet I ordered sitting in the glass case, when I've been waiting over 2 weeks now for mine from charkbait. Not to mention they told me they could ship me the Penn I ordered and ship me the Avet when it comes in, and I have yet to see either reel.crashmister wrote:Charkbait drop shipps many of their reel's direct from the manufacturer. Re: Whats your opinion?
My friend and fishing buddy told me that fishing with the Daiwa Saltist STT4500h would be like fishing with a line conne connected to a NHRA dragster making a 1/4 mile pass. I think it will be a blast but heres some eye candy for all to see.
