is it possible to paint a rod

We have a good many rod builders here and also those with much to offer about reels, so if you need help with Rods-Reels- or Wrapping do it here

i have a 7 foot rod that i took all of the guides off and am redoing the whole thing. i want to paint it black but i know there has to be some sort of special paint to do it. thanks for the help. Tight Lines :reeling:

I just painted a Gator blank, I used Krylon Fusion Gloss Black, I am going to put epoxy over it on the entirety of the rod.

should i paint the blank first then wrap it? i'm really new to this.

and how do i know what sized wrap to use. its a 7 foot spinning rod

Krylon its a good paint.i paint the whole blank let it dry and epoxy it let cure and then start wrapping next day.

8) If the blank is already black, or close to it before you paint it, you do not have to epoxy it before the wrap.

ok Zeb :D i do it like that its easier to clean the fingerprints and grease of hands,but its true yo dont have too :wink:

The krylon is running all over the pole what do i do? and i f i dont like the color or it doesnt work out can i take the paint off?

btw i just used krylon outdoors there was no krylon fusion will that still work. can i use laquer thinner to take off the paint

yes it will work i have never used fusion ,when you r done dont touch the blank to put epoxy .

its all painted exept for the bottom right above the handle i plan to wrap that red. what do i do next?
