thoughts on Daiwa Sealine

Any of you guys have or used this reel? I'm getting the Saltist 40 but maybe for a lesser expensive back up reel the sealine looks nice for the price. Just would like yalls thoughts on the sealine conventionals..All my best

I know a lot of people of the West coast of the state use them for bottom fishing. Not sure how they would cast on a pier. I really have never heard anything bad about them but they never caught on in the east coast for some reason.

I have a Sealine SL30SH I have had for at least 15 years, it is a tank and has caught many fish. Packed with 20 lb mono it will cast a mile on the right rod. I believe this particular model is discontinued however.

Saltist 40 is a great reel. I would put locktight on the screws for the clicker though because I had a big fish blow mine out right away.

Phish i like that S-xh 40 i think it is. Holds 270yds of 30lb mono. Hey when yall get conventionals do yall leave the level liners alone???

I don't use level winds for any of my conventionals that I use for soaking bait, the levelwind cuts down on my casting distance too much. I have a couple Ambassadeurs and a Calcutta with levelwind that I use for fishing lures.

I'm with ya phish...Ok, between the Sealine or Quantum Cabo conventional, what would you get? Like I said, I'm gonna get one for my back up or to go with my Saltist 40 and Jigmaster. I just want 3 different conventional reels. I have 2 (jig and Saltist)

I bought the Sealine-x 50hv .The reel is easy to cast with the brake blocks in and holds a ton of line . The sealine reels are non levelwind reels .Check ebay and you can get some good prices of these reels.

Why don't you buy another Saltist. Saltist 30 or 50. You really don't need a back up reel. If you purchase quality reels they don't often go bad on you. You can have multiple reels and rods to increase your chances of hooking up. Ask PP about that. He used to bring over 20 rods to fish. He has gotten better, now he brings 15.

LOL! I know bolo, you're right. I just need the back up for when i backlash the hell out of it and don't have the time to fix the line or I have to cut half of it away, I just lay it back in the rod holder an get another one I like having different things. Vari.ety I guess I'm saying. I HAVE to have 6 rods on the pier (no limit in Mexico Beach) quantum blue runner for bait. Penn silverado 6000, 14lb mono for macks, PennSS 550, with 50lb braid for live bait, Penn Jigmaster,30lb mono, soaking bait for sharks, Saltist 40,for jigmasters company doing the same thing, and I need a Quantum Cabo or Daiwa Sealine to back up the Jigmaster and Saltist 40. OH!! I have the Penn Senator 6/0 I leave at the beach house because I never catch poop with it.

You should use the 6/0 for sharks. That will free up your Saltist 40.

Most the time I have to rely on a kayaker Bolo to get my bait out and thats once in a blue moon. I cant cast it to where it needs to go. Also I havent seen anyone catch bigger than a 5 foot shark there. If I had a kayak or if my brother in laws came down with their kayaks, I'm with you, the 6/0 is there. But if I invite them, then my 2 sisters have to come with more children!...See what I mean? I can at least cast the jigmaster and Saltist where it needs to go. The pier isnt too long. Bolo, seriously, the cabo or the sealine?

I can't tell you because I never used either reel. I have used a Cabo 20 and 40 spin but not their conventional.
