OK this is just a little of an improvement.
Was getting sick and tired of the tiny bungee cords to tie the rods together when moving out to the bridge.
You know – got to wrap them around several times and then pull and hook them together. How much to wrap and so forth depending on how many rods you are tying together and then the strain when for a tight fit the bungee is to short and you have to pull really hard or leave it as such and it might be to loose.
Well I had a pair of old Crocs with straps. Took off the straps and made rod ties from it. Good thing is that the middle section or better the section then wrapping around the rod is of softer rubber reinforced on the back with textile.
Here is what you need.
2 old straps
2 Key chain rings
1 pack of Scotch adhesive fasteners “you will need the rougher locking side and it can be any brand you get”
In order for it to work better with the fastener you have to extend the locking side on the straps.
I just cut 2 pieces per strap to fit the gap from the original to the beginning of the middle rubber section. Then all you need to do is peel of the backing from the cut pieces and bring them in place on the lace of the shoe strap. Then take a sowing machine and sow it on so it is tight and will not come loose if the adhesive looses grip. Then take one side of the shoe strap and stick it through the key chain ring and strap it tight. Works like a charm and is very safe and sturdy.

When you have a couple of rods you want to tie together all you do is wrap the strap around the rod and bring the end of the shoe strap without the key chain ring through the end with the key chain ring and pull and set it tight. - DONE

If on the top side of the rod bundle at the blanks the diameter of the rod bundle is to small you can use the below straps as an alternative. Thing with that is that they do not have the soft rubber part in the middle to protect the blanks. You can make them yourself. Use as base a 10 inch by half inch piece of heavy cloth and sow on one side the soft side of fastener the entire length. The other side with a 2 inch piece of the locking side of the fastener to the beginning of the cloth.
Instant rod tie.
Picture 3 and 4 are the alternative.

Hope one or the other can use this
