Just build this acid wrapped rod for a 4/0 senator I had laying around. Going to be my all around pier rod from Kings to jerking big snook out from under T's. Really excited about taking it out. Tell me what you guys think.

Why are the guides like that? Looks good just confused about the guides.
When the fish puts load on the rod normal rods tend to want to twist around because of the placement of the guides along the top of the blank. So the angler is having to fight the torque of the rod trying to spin as well as the fish.
It seems to be something that people either love or hate. Its actually my first acid wrapped rod. I think the concept is interesting and makes since so I thought I would try it out. Appreciate the feedback

Nice, my neighbor (family friend almost) gave me a similar type custom rod which isn't acid wrap that he doesn't want anymore so im gonna be pairing it up with my 4/0 to target pier kings and snook. Can't wait!

just a question on the guide wrap. I have made a few rods with much success, and find if you find the spine of the rod there should be not problems with the torque? have you had problems in the past, and to you spine the rod prior to a build?
Im in the process of building a spinning rod with the same handle configuration as this rod for targeting tarpon off the piers, also. Can't wait to catch my first poon. Its a 9' gator glass t90h blank.
I did spine the rod first. No I haven't had any problems that I know of, but thats why I wanted to try it out, and its not the torque from the spine that is the problem its the tip being on top of the bank rotating the rod around from the load produced by the fish.
nice rod ... acid rods are the poop!!! i fish lots of them theres nothing like a well built acid rod its like driving a new caddy compared to an old pick up... good job
Thanks I really appreciate the comments. Glad to here from someone who likes acid wraps. I like the physics and concept of it. Cant wait to jerk that first monster snook out from under a pier with it.
i love acid rods i have my king fish rod acid wrapped and my 9/0 rod should be done in the next few days. i will only fish a acid wrapped rod now. the rod you build looks bad ass.
