since the boat thing comming threw I decided I needed to step my gear up for some serious off shore action. Started browsing CL and found a gent in boca selling 2 6/0 senators with penn slammer rods and a 4/0 with a slammer rod. I eventually talked him down to 250 for all 3 combos. and on to the pics. Good deal?
Im going to send them to the tackle shop for a grease and cleanup before I use them to be sure they are in top condition,

Well, Bass Pro sells those 6/0 combos for around 200-225 each and the 4/0 combo for around 150-160 so it looks like you did ok as long as they aren't in too rough shape.
The problem with writing about religion is that you run the risk of offending sincerely religious people, and then they come after you with machetes.
I used one of those 4/0 slammer combos on my first FFF trip, it did fine, caught a big 'ole AJ with it. I've since made some major upgrades but still have it, and will bring it on FFF trips for a back-up....unless you want a second 4/0

that and when connor got his 12/0 he thought it was perfect and brought it to tnr for it to be spooled up and they opened up his reel and he had 10 broken screws.

Lol yeah not saying you should necesarilly send it in to be serviced for all that money for nothing, just to check to make sure the components on the inside are still in tact, i think penn has instructions on taking the reel apart on their website.

The 4/0 washers are $1.25 each and the 6/0 washers are $1.35 each. You need three washers for a 4/0 and five for a 6/0. Might be a good idea to grease the new washers with Cal's drag grease.
