Question about bag limit

Post by snook spy »

Just a curious question about bag limits for fish. Every so often I take a trip to the keys to fish the bridges there and since it is far for me I usually will stay for 2 days. Just wondering how it would work if you fished a bridge for 2 days without leaving(we take shifts sleeping) Say I arrive at 7:00am on friday, does this mean at 7:00am on saturday my bag limit on all species would start over? If the answer is yes, how would you explain that to an fwc officer if he checked your cooler and you where over the limit. Im sure hes not going to believe you where here for 2 days. I dont think I would ever be in this situation for 2 reasons, I really dont need to keep that many fish, and I most likely wouldnt catch that many fish :D Thanks in advance

I do the same frequently (fish for more then 24 hours on the bridges). You can only possess 1 day bag limit while out on the bridge, regardless of how many days you have been out there.

In your case the answer is no . If you stay over at a hotel and can show proof you still could get jammed up. When I go down for a few days and stay in a hotel I simply bring a separate cooler and leave the previous days catch in the room. Other than that if you have them in your car you are still in possesion by the letter of the law.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.
