Banana puddin' - step by step

Post by Local66 »

This is a fun pattern for cold sunny days when the reds are laid up in sandy pockets, and aren't moving around too much. Just let it sit, the arctic fox keeps it moving. I've had redfish sit and stare at this thing for a solid 30 seconds before scarfing it down.

List of materials

Gamakatsu #4 SL11-3H
UTC mono thread (.004 for this one)
Arctic fox (color of your choice)
Mono eyes & brass/lead eyes
sili legs
EP minnow fiber

First, tie off your brass and wrap the shank to the bend.
Image

Next step, before tying off your fox, brush out the short base hairs, then pull the longer scraggly hairs. Leave just a puff hanging off the back of the hook.
Image

Tie in your mono eyes (plastic bead chain), just behind the fox.
Image

Hang a pair of sili legs in the gap of the mono eyes.
Image

The final step is to start stacking your EP. Furry foam and sparkle yarn work great too.
Image

For your final trim, just kinda taper it off towards the eyes. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Man, I thought you made real banana puddin. Turns out it is a fly. :D
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

The more I see your dedication the more I want to get a long rod and try my hand at fly fishing. I did some fly fishing for trout up north when I was a kid and it was a great time. A whole new world down here but I might give it a try and commit. Great pictures by the way.

Dude- I know I'm new and all, and I'm sure that the pudding is da BOMB and under the right conditions I could bury my face in there and inhale the whole tray...
BUT DAMN- the photography skills are severely lacking. At first glance, I thought I was looking at what out friends across the pond would call, "a plate of sick".
Hope this is taken in the lighthearted, "I can take it and dish it out" way it was meant. And of course, no offence intended to the chef, I'm just sayin'...

Presentation only matters when you paying for the meal. If it tastes phenomenal who cares what it looks like unless your shelling out for it at the restraunt. Looks just fine to me though :thumright:
Pucked up brewery
"adding more ABV per bottle so you can add more inches to your last catch...

Folks- don't get me wrong, once I figured out what I was lookin' at, the pudding looks fine  . But the "composition" of the photo (half shadow, dark spoon, missing corner of pud...) is hardly up to the lofty standards set by Bolo and others on this board.
Nevermind, maybe I was just hungry! I'm better now.

Now, permitchaser, what on earth could you be reffering to? :viking:

This was taken on my IPhone with poor lighting. We were in the middle of Texas on a 50 acres ranch. I apologize for not bring my photo lights. :D In our group we are not worry about presentation because we are not cooking in a 5 star restaurant or being judge in a bbq competition. All you have to know is it was damn awesome and both trays were finish within a few minutes. Feeding 37 hungry people you try not to get in their way.
