THE 2008 SBFG SHOREBOUND SHARK TOURNEY OFFICIAL RULES:

Image

The 2008 Shorebound Shark Tourney begins July 1st, 2008 and will continue through August 9th, 2008.

1-TEAMS: There will be a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 5 members per team. At least one member of each team must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 and wish to participate in this tourney you will need for a parent or guardian to sign the entry form/waiver. This form/waiver must be notarized in order to ensure validity of parent/guardian signature. The Team captain must be over the age of 18 AND shall be responsible for submitting the team’s name, date of birth of each angler in the team, team application, and notarized parental release if applicable along with all tourney entry fees before the cutoff date of June 15, 2008. Any team submissions received after June 15, 2008 may not be granted permission to fish the tourney. The team captain will be allowed to change the members of his or her team up until the start of the tourney but absolutely NO changes will be allowed once the tourney has begun.

2- ENTRY FEE: All teams of 3 to 4 members must submit an entry fee of $200.00. If you wish to have a 5th team member there will be an additional $50.00 fee. This entry fee will allow the anglers in a team to compete for the prize payouts. A percentage of the entry fee will go towards the 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and biggest shark cash prizes. Any remainder will be used to purchase the secret items and to cover any expenses to run this tourney or any future tourney.

3- THIS IS STRICTLY A CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNEY: All due care and safety must be exercised when handling any shark. Sharks may be brought onshore for the purpose of photography but good judgment must be used when ensuring their safety and that of those in the surrounding area. Any indication that a shark was intentionally injured or mistreated will guarantee immediate expulsion from this tourney. Keep the sharks as damage free as possible. In the event of a dead shark washing up on shore we will take all measures possible to determine if it was caught by tourney participants, points will be deducted and the team involved may be penalized as agreed by the SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC and appointed tourney-judges.

This tourney is designed to showcase these magnificent sharks and the anglers. While beaching a shark we ask that you do not remove it from the water, leave at least one quarter of its body in the water so it can support its own weight, if the waves do not permit it, and if possible do not drag them into the dry sand.

4- RANGE AND METHOD OF FISHING: All fish are to be caught in Florida waters from land or structure connected to shore such as a Bridge, Jetty, Pier, Dock, Rock, Beach, etc. As long as it is within a county of the State of Florida (Island’s shores included), you may be dropped off at the site by any motorized transportation. A kayak or other non-motorized method may be used to deploy bait. In no way can you use or get help from someone using a motorized craft. All fish must be caught using Rod and Reel. Your team members can fish with others but only they are allowed on the rod. While landing a shark you can ask for help from whoever is a participant in this tourney, but no one else other than a member of any participating tourney team is allowed to touch the rod.

5-TO QUALIFY FOR POINTS: In order to qualify for full points all sharks must have a minimum of 6 feet (full points include bonus points). To qualify for partial points all sharks (with the exception of nurse sharks) which are less than 6 feet but over 4 feet, will qualify for a maximum of 25 points per shark. Following rule #6 a digital picture must be turned in for all entries-to-count.

6- DIGITAL PICTURE: The camera must be at least 5 Mega Pixels. All photos of sharks MUST INCLUDE the secret item which will be identified at the start of the tournament. For bridge or pier caught sharks; a carabiner clip (purchased by the participants) is to be used for clipping a secret item to the line, said secret item must appear in the entry submission photo. The tourney board will provide you with the secret item to go on the clips. In order to avoid double entries ALL entries must be submitted by the team captain as an email with an attachment to: entrysubmission@shoreboundsharktourney.com Photo record can not be more than 3 days old from time of catch, only digital photos will be allowed. NO CELL PHONE PHOTOS, NO STILL SHOTS TAKEN FROM VIDEO, OR SCAN OF PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE ALLOWED! The digital photo must be the original, DO NOT ALTER THE PHOTOS in any way.

Any shark that can not be identified because of low quality picture or video (i.e. blurry, dark, pixel size too small…etc) will not qualify for points. Once you submit a picture or video that must be the only entry of that shark. PLEASE ensure that you submit a photo and or video in which the shark is CLEARLY visible. Any team submitting a different picture or video of the same shark to increase points will be penalized and HALF of their team points will be removed for the first occurrence. Should the same team attempt the same, that team shall be disqualified from the tourney and will forfeit any and all tourney entry fees and awards won.

7- VIDEO OF CATCH: In order for us to honor the video, you must submit at least the end of the fight to the release of the shark. This means that the shark must be visible and close to beach (landing it), placing the secret item on the shark, and releasing it right after. In other words PROOF THAT IT WAS CAUGHT FROM LAND There is no minimum or maximum in the amount of video. The video must be turned in to the SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC in the form of CD, DVD, or VHS. You must let SHOREBOUND FISHING GROUP, LLC know in advance that a video will be turned in, no less than 2 weeks from the catch. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT VIDEOS THAT HAVE A COPYRIGHT.
