first major fishing injury in 11 yrs of steady fishing and dedication.... cut nerve tendon and artery..... may or may not get feeling back .. top of finger righ now is half numb pins n needles numb with no pins or needles feeling......
all cause of zip ties on a packge of pliers i was tryingto open and my knife slipped
worst part was i just got to our spot and said hi to everyone... didnt even start fishing yet after 3 hrs trying to get there.... i just hope it heals right and i get feeling and motion back.... never realize how much i use this finger on my off hand til last night.... this sucks

Holy shite man that sucks I gagged looking at it. Might be time to take up golf. Really though I learned the hard way scissors before the knife I have cut the poop out of myself tryin to open poop with knives

it happened so fast i bled prob a pint from then to the hospital
then backto the pier again...

they disinfected it with like 3 different things the second one hurt so bad... the worst.... i was yellin F and SH and SORRY then the numbing agent kicked in and i felt nothign for a few hrs:P

EXACTLY dude... hopin i can function by a 2 week period but i doubt it..... and of course we didnt catch fish we were at anglins... (sorry tommy) lol... i only put one line out could barely hold a rod or reel in

and I thought getting a hook in my hand was bad. Well as the old saying goes, you need to get back on the horse. Hope you heal quickly.

my advice: dont even try fishing for the next 2 weeks. you don't want to get a wound infection and risk have your finger amputated. as far as nerve regeneration, it typically grows 1mm per day.. however its your finger the end of your brachial plexus it may take up to months.. I've seen worst in the ER.. just please dont get it infected it can go south quick. if you see pus or runs a fever, go to the ER

Wow! Hope you're ambidextrous! Keep neosporin on it and keep it bandaged a little bent. Stay off the pain pills they just slow the healing process. Keep ice on it as much as possible. Just keep it cold not freezing. Most important,

Wrap it if necessary. Key To Fast healing is immobilization! As little as possible for
2 Weeks. Then as is comfortable and pain free.

doc said keep it straight but the splint has a very slight natural curve now to my finger.. i tok it off cleaned with antibacterial soap last night at the 24 hour mark as directed... i had one more antibiotic pack of ointment i put on it after and covered it with gauze then wrapped loose but firm andsplinted again just havign a hard time getting the end of the splint to stay still in my palm tried wrappin it 12 times and cant get it so the wrap doesnt bunch up between my fingers... ive stretched my arm out a couple times and swore i tore the stitches not even using the hand just arm extended.... screamed like a sob this am..... the tip of my finger is moving a little in splint so i think im gonna rewrap so it cant move at all either.... i tried bending it last night.... i didnt try hard just to see and no go.. wont even attempt its fixed in ths position.. i can bend the tip slightly but not the middle wont try for awhile

and yes i def chummed up the waters friday with a 1/4 pint or more.... and still caught nothing heh
