Moving to Florida

I'm currently 17 and have one more year of HS and live in AZ. In plan on going to ASU to major in accounting and finance. Then once I graduate I want to move to Florida and start a career in finance/accounting. My dream is to live and Florida and spend my weekends fishing with a boat. I'm determined to make this happen. I'm obsessed with fishing and my family has a condo in Marco Island. I think Tampa will be the best fit because of the abundance of business. I would love to work for Raymond James. If not Tampa I want anywhere South of that. Preferably west coast but Miami area would be cool too. I will be able to make good money out of college (at least 50k to start). Is this a realistic dream? Any advice? Experience with starting a life in Florida?

Sounds like a good dream... Tampa is a good place, Jax might have more financial job availability but not South of Tampa. I would suggest learning Spanish as a seond language, it will open a few more doors when job hunting, especially if you end up in the Miami/Ft. lauderdale area as it is a gateway to Latin America for business.
Depending where you end up your fishing from a boat goals may change due the tyoe of fish availability and your desires of what to catch.

but they don't mean nothing by it.... just tell him you love fishing for "Ribbon fish"

Tampa> is a great area for jobs and fishing
Job outlook from now up to 2020.. for Accounting/bookkeeping and Auditing Clerk is
really good.. my GF has her own business in Bookkeeping and also has a General contractor license..
and does real well.. and just like anything else... it what you put into it that matters..

You seem to have goals in place and hell that's better then 80% of the kids out there..
Keep us updated and let us know about the fishing in your areas... we love reading
fishing reports from other states...and don't be afraid to jump in and ask questions..
and as far as people joking with you.... that's part of life... just laugh it off and joke
back... good luck :toast:
Thank you! I will continue to update on how it's going and hopefully I'll be updating about my fishing trips in FLA during the weekends In a few years!

New plan!! Attend USF out of high school and major in criminology to become a police officer. Has anyone heard or things about USF? And pros and cons of being a cop. I think the pros are far gonna out weigh the cons and I'm really excited about this career path!

You do know that our waste of space Gov, has done everything in his power to make law enforcement and teaching something you want to do outside the great state of newly wed's and nearly dead's. Just saying

Still have the same original plan. Don't know what I was thinking about being a cop lol. Visiting My condo in Marco Island from May 31st to June 14th. Can't wait! Added some of the "unfair lures" to my tackle box and am really excited to see if they live up to the hype.
