I think it's a good topic. My question is why make cars go over 60mph?

Those are the ones that causes accidents, ruin other people's life for ever with a lose of a family member. And the worst part is, that they live to tell about it. I've seen those speeders lately everywhere not just on the highway. And quit afew around school zones and most of them are women (those call themself multi-tasking women) on the phones while driving there own kids to school. Time to band phone usage while driving.

We were driving back from Key West after our last Tortugas trip, and a guy in a fancy BMW was passing everyone on the double yellow in Big Pine, right in the middle of the Key Deer territory. We took bets how long it would be before he was pulled over, sure enough made it about 2 miles down the road and there he was

Couples of month back, there were this Red mini van from hell that was passing everyone heading South on Oversea Hwy. Don't matter if it is double White/Yellow line, oncoming traffic and even 2-3 car at one time.

Was hoping him/her not to crush so it will not held up my fishing trip. But it was fun watching it taking crazy chances.

Monroe County has had four highway deaths this week so be careful if you're coming down. I think it is the spring break traffic.

Damn. I've never understood the people that are in such a hurry to pass, and then you end up catching up to them while they are sitting at a red light 5 miles down the road.

 Monroe county actually stays pretty busy.

RARE somewhere in their interpretation of the US Constitution they will claim it would be a violation of their rights. Besides making cars that wont go faster and people would just alter their cars to go faster. You can't regulate common sense or personal responsiblity. Might as well ban fast food, alcohol, and cigerretes while your at it.

I think the accident rate would sky rocket. FF would know better then me but people that are in a hurry to die will always be here. While driving is not a vice, regulating anything has never worked and never will. We have tried to regulate the general population's vices before and failed. There is, and always will be a way around any thing the goverment wants to control. One HUGE example is the use of weed. I swear, if you don't smoke you are in the minority and yet it is not a legal substance. DWUI is not legal and yet SF encouages people to drink in excess and people do, all day, every day.

Personally, I think new cars have too many safety features. New car commercial: No chance in dying in a fatal wreck when you have 35 airbags to save your life. "Oh really? Let me pull out my cellphone and post on facebook while speeding down I-95." New car commercial: Our automobiles have blind-spot detection/side assist/collision warning. "How convenient. Pulls out the Sunday paper while driving and starts reading the front page while eating breakfast and drinking beer.". In high school drivers ed class, we were all forced to watch a one hour video of smashed up cars and trucks with ripped off roofs, bodies that were missing arms and legs, decapitated heads, and auto interiors that were covered in blood and guts. It was one of the most explicit things I have ever seen in my life. If new cars were shown on a faces of death style commercial, I think drivers would pay much more attention to what they're doing behind the wheel.

Clear as day. She stole her dads turbo porsche and took it up to triple digit speeds and slammed it into a toll booth.

The car was sliced in half. Blood was everywhere.

Ummmmm. Let me think, oh yeah, it did not work. The Speak Easys were loaded with people drinking and smoking weed. A lot of the alcohol was close to, if not outright poison and yet people were ther every night drinking and getting high. All due to the goverment declaring booze illegal.

When you read about what went on behind the scenes in our government with the Volstead act, they knew exactly what would happen and they also knew how much money they could make protecting organized crime. With so much money it was easier to pay people off than kill em  The war was between the gang's, the politicians and police comanders were on the payroll. They pretty much killed each other, well, and everyone who got in the way of them killing each other.
Didn't call it the Roaring 20's for nothing.
