Oar fish. Very cool, did not know they were in the pacific as well! That is a juvenile... They get pretty big!



Their hunting styles are exactly the same as well... It is pretty cool, perhaps the ribbons evolved from the oar fish which are apparently pre-historic as well. Either way, cool find, but definitely and without a doubt in my mind an oarfish.

What saddens me is that the "experts" are not willing to call it what it is... I mean, look at the picture real well, its identical in pattern, as well as body shape, it is just missing it's characteristic head and fins, other than that it's pretty obvious! I am glad you are able to find a JOB brother, I have been looking for far too long and never have I gotten so much as a call or an email with a decent resume...
