I finally got a job at a pizza place called pasquales (for those that know of it) as a busboy. I worked my asz off for 5 hours tonight and it was probably the nastiest thing I have ever done..

EPIC idea to not have anywhere to throw anything away in a self service restaraunt.

Next time you think of mixing ketchup, mayo, bbq sauce, and ranch dressing together on your plate, think of me :pistols:

LOL - Jordon, those days are loooong behind me but I remember one of my first jobs, as a dish washer, in a restaurant at a Ramada Inn. The first night was the same way you describe it...I was completely disgusted with the dirty dishes and was grabbing them (the dishes) with my finger tips, trying my best to touch them as little as possible. You get used to it pretty quick, buy the end of the week I was grabbing those suckers without a bother. You'll have to just to keep up during the busy times.

LOL! Man, you bring back some funny memories of some of my first jobs. The salad prep guy was a friend from school. He helped me get that that dish washing job. We used to get into cherry tomato fights once in a while, throwing them across the kitchen at each other when we thought no one was looking. I threw one at him just as the head chef was walking buy and I nailed the chefs hat...one of those tall goofy looking paper hats ROFLAMO...he failed to see the humor in the situation.

On a sad note, that same job, there was an old guy I worked with, his job was washing dishes as well. He was obviously not very well educated, I'm not sure he could even read. I saw him take chicken from time to time off the plates when they came back from the dining room and put it in his pocket to eat later. I'll never forget that. Very sad to see.

Stay in school & pay attention in class kids...you could be this old guy.

Don't belittle that immigrant guy who can not speak English. :silent: To him that job is an opportunity. Someday he will rise and speak a better English, open his own business and employ your kids. :smurf: :brilsmurf: :smurfin: Rather than looking at that job as disgusting or the people, look at that as a Golden Opportunity to train yourself and built a foundation on the value of a good work ethic and the fluidity of adaptation. :pl: Your schooling has its limitation, its your ability to understand the depth of your character that will help you succeed in the new super competitive fluid world (you might have five or more careers in the new world order). In this 21st Century World being an English only speaker will limit you to advancement, in fact if you speak English only now, you are already a minority in the lower middle management of Industry and Government. :pale: Take the time to learn a little language he speak is not going to hurt you, are you not a student right now--then used that time wisely for an education has never hurt anyone? :study: I spoke six languages and it led me from my first job working at a slaughtered house for six months after graduation from college before I went over sea and work for Uncle Sam, Wall street and being Self-employed and be free to do what I want. :toast:

Upon arriving in the Middle East, my Hitler Youth looking Superior gazed at my dossier and demanded me with the arrogant disdain why I did not take the six months and travel the US and see my new adopted country like every rich bastard patriots from my college and instead work at a slaughter house with communist immigrants?? My answer to my Directorate D Boss was that the government was not paying me the tax free salary and bonus hardship posting yet, so who is going to paid for my living expenses, student loan and helping my parents paid for my younger siblings just entering Harvard and Yale--we ain‘t wealthy (Pop & Ma work at the Jolly Green Giant Cannery) and well connected like him and barely escape the Viet Cong bullets to America; the slaughter house was the highest paying job on the graveyard shift in our home town more than thirty five years ago. There were immigrants from the Soviet Union, Eastern Bloc (Iron Curtain Countries of Eastern Europe), Middle East working at the slaughter house, folks with advance education but their English and dream are limit for the time and I made many friends all working for our share of the American dreams; I was a vegetarian for six months after that and I do not touch hot dogs or sausages unless I made it myself to this day!!! :chef:

Taking on the most dangerous job with the highest bonus hardship that no one would take accept the team of twelve Hellhound members I have assembled. We came back alive achieving the Congressional Medal of our lives, one of only two of the two dozen teams send in for that kind of work that made it back not in body bags, we walk into history knowing in our heart we have served and saved a lot of American Lives for generation to come. :patriot: My boss however being a Harvard Educated and a direct descendant of one of the Mayflower had this precocious notion about who is an American always making fun of my accent and calling me "Charlie". Well no one know what happen, he and his team never came home in a body bag and I felt sorry for him and his team families--classified for sixty years like us!!! :salut:  :patriot: He was always taking the soft clean post and well I could never figure out why a white sheep always hiding in a sea of black sheep??? He never made any attempt to blend in with the natives, learn the cultures, his patrician mentality render him into an obsolete missing corpse and condemned his team; my plebeian mentality bring home my team and now allow me a patrician life style but I still live like a plebeian. :batman: Look at every job as a golden opportunity to learn, it is a foundation for your future happiness. :king: Stick with that bus boy job for the summer and stay in school and I might be inclined to answer your PM request to take you giant snake head fishing this Hurricane season!!! :driving: :reeling: :bounce:

Read what Safeman wrote....daily.

You will never, ever receive better advice than what he has written.

The master of snakeheads, sensei Safeman, could well hold more secrets of success...

Zebco, you crazy a**. :D

Worked with my father's restaurant for 20 years. I have seen it all. I hate dealing with people when it comes to food. They are animals and can only imagine how they act at home. Hope this job opens your eyes how a education is so important. Study hard so more doors open for you in the future. You are young and jobs will not come easy especially in today's economy. Some people cannot work for others and are smart and brave enough to start their own business. Cutting grass is hard work but we live in Florida so everyone has a yard. Try construction if you can deal with manual labor.

I don't know how old are you and what type of job you like. Have you ever thought of going into law enforcement after high school? Great pay and benifit withthe right department. I know several officers who been in the dept for a while and makes a great living. But they work really hard and have good street smarts. Just a thought.

You have a job and esp. in todays economy that is more than a lot of people can say. At your age I cleaned up around a fish market and since have done a lot of other jobs. Today anytime my job gets me down all it takes is thinking about shoveling fish heads or cutting grass in the summer to bring me back to reality that my career is great. As pointed out use this job as a reminder to work hard towards a career that you will enjoy.
