Mullet and Greenies all over the beach today, getting blasted up and down the beach. Got a fat 10lb jack, monster lady fish and a little 20" snook on the spoon.

Went back again today, few mullet around but TONs of greenies, catching mangrove snapper right off the beach as well as some jacks. Saw some big snook, and hooked up to a monster tarpon for about 10 seconds lol

Thanks for the report :toast: did the grovers have any size to them? I've been patiently waiting for the post hurricane crews to dissipate.. Getting kinda anxious waiting.

Bait was exceptionally thick and some of the best action I've seen in a while. Went out with a new friend and glad to say he caught his first snook, about 12# and some nice jacks. Between the 2 of us we caught about 30 jacks, all pretty decent size, a few snook and a couple little snappers. I caught everything on a Poppa Dog and my buddy used a doa jerk shad on a jig head.

You may laugh... But them bigger boys there as well as any and all mackerel and finally any and all tuna (including bonita) are my favorite fish to catch after snook! Youre very lucky you have them beaches to fish! Id love to pitch a fly to a bruiser like that... I want to see my reel BURN! Gawd them jacks are fighters! Keep it up and send some down our way!

Nice job, Stuart! And nice job hooking up your friend!

You made the right choice for location... I tried the inlet but it was dead. :-(

That has been a good spot as of late for me, I'm doing any good anywhere else. I did catch about 8 jacks this morning at another beach, but smaller........still fun.

Interesting day today...fished the beach at Hobe Sound for the afternoon, water was muddy and not much going on the surf rods with shrimp, just a handful of runners, mojarra and catfish. Around 5 a school of bluefish came down the beach smashing glass minnows, I went out waist deep and got 4 in no time on a spoon. Had a 5th one on and when I was grabbing the leader, a blacktip came out of nowhere and grabbed it. He swiped my legs when he took the fish and scraped them up pretty good, my shins look like they were hit with a belt sander. Needless to say I won't be wading in a bait school any time soon.

8) A real fisherman would have dropped his rod, lunged towards the shark and wrestled him to his death.

Yeah I won't lie it scared the crap out of me...whole thing happened in like 2 seconds. If the shark had been a few seconds later it probably would have gotten my hand. I booked it back to shore afterwards, didn't even realize it hit my legs until my wife saw them bleeding.

Holy Crap, Phanatic! That would freak me out!

Were the bluefish all around you in the water, or just the one you reeled in? (maybe the shark trailed it in to you?)

WOW!

They were everywhere crashing bait but about 20-30 yards further out from me. There were some glass minnows swimming around me but the blues were further out. I think the shark followed this one in and because the water was so murky never saw me.
