if he wants to put his reel on concrete then thats fine. nothing happens to the reel. a few scratches never hurt anyone or the performance of the reel. Nice snook buddy!

I'll be down there on Saturday for summer break; anyone who feels like hitting up BI let me know. I'm assuming the bait is plentiful?

Yes, the bait is plentiful, check out the Boatless Fishing Reel Time News for a report about the inlet, it should give you an idea of what to target...

my largest snook yet!

Post by gatorjwade »

Caught her about 8:20am on a large live pilchard!
...Was trying for a tarpon so used about 5' of 50# floro and a 4/0 circle hook... perfect hookup in corner of mouth. About 9am got about 5 more hits... 4 times the fish got away with my bait and no solid hookup, one solid hookup but my leader was quickly sliced.

sounds like you landed it maybe 10 minutes after I left. I guess that's why they say "patience is a virtue".

Yup, it was nice meetin' ya!

For the other guy re: parking for the inlet.... there's about 5 parking spots just on the N side of the A1A bridge on W side of A1A. It's about a 10-min walk over the bridge to the inlet. I wish there were a few spots right at the inlet. I usually see more people there than there are spaces over the bridge, so I think people park elsewhere also, but I'm not sure where without risk of ticket or towing.

yes, on N side of the A1A bridge, first "driveway" on the West side of the street. It's the entrance to the model office for the beach club... I think the sign says something like "1000 OCEAN", but just as you go in on the right-hand side there are about 5 parking spots with a sign on each that says "for persons using the public fishing area". If you are coming on A1A from the North, you will actually see a little sign indicating a public fishing area on the West side of the road. (Actually, it's for the little spot right on the intracoastal, but I figure it's valid for any fishing in that area.)

Hope that helps (and that the spots aren't all filled next time I visit! )

Fished it sundown till 1am Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Blew out my flip flop on tuesday and steped on sharp rocks all the way back to my truck. Caught and tagged two bonefish on tuesday, and it was blown out on wednesday but managed to catch like 6 undersized mangroves. Two dudes out there with like 10 live bait rods out at the same time only catching one stingray. They hate to see the undersized mangos go back. They could always eat all the dead pilchards they had. :toast:
