went up to lakeworth this morning. i got a little bit of a late start but there were some fish to be caught. i saw a couple maks and cudas caught and a snook spooled a kid. however if you like to catch needle fish you could fill a box truck. they were everywhere. i did see the mullet show up around 1230 as i was leaving and there was a tarpon or two crashing them. i left shortly after, it was just getting hot with little production.

the three jack was in the size of 16-20inches long, so it was a good run.

im going to try and get out in the morning tomorrow. i dont know if i will be there when they open, but i am going to try and get there early. if you see a good sized guy with a buggy waring a Coors hat come say hi to me.

i think i am going to count on catching bait in the surf and if that doesn't work, ill get some squid or shrimp from the bait house to fish for what ever will bite. i don't get to fish enough to be picky these days.

hit the pier up for a little while this morning.

there is plenty of bait around the pier right now. there are cuda, lady-fish, jacks and some snook running around in the bait pods. saw one legal snook caught and kept today. i hooked into a big snook myself but he ran my braid into a pylon and cut loose. i also saw a couple of cuda, jack and lady fish caught.

i saw the rain getting ready to hit, so i packed it up and headed for the truck. i hhad caught enough to make me happy for the day.

i must have just missed you....

i got there at around 1030am and started at the front of the pier. there were a few snook running around in the bait. however there were quite a few not so experienced fishermen catching lady fish and then throwing them at the snook.

then i moved to theend of the pier. saw a very nice cuda landed about 1145/12pm and quite a few runners off the end. fished the end for a while, then i moved to the middle. i casted a gotcha plug for a while hooking quite a few lady fish. however the kept spitting the hook as i would bring them up. thats okay with me however, i dont want them for anything right now.

after catching a few ladies i moved to the bottom of the pier again and fished for snook. i did have much luck even though i could see the snook. i did have one suck in my bait as i was talking to another person on the pier. however i wasn't ready and i pulled it right back out of his mouth. rookie mistake.

im heading back in the morning. look for the guy in the coors hat and say hello if you are heading out.

- got out about 2-3 hours late.
- by the time I got out, most of them that fished earlier had at less over 10+ nice size ladies fish.
- I got two Ladies.
- Wind was about 10-15 north east, more north
- Hide was about 5:30pm.
- bait was in the surf when I got down,
- as soon as the sun go down the bait was gone.
- I will try to fish on Wed.
- only see Ladies, no Mac or Blue

thanks for the report avet. you and i are going to have to meet up sometime. i think we are the only two that fish LW all the time.

I got myself a pier net finally on sunday. i think i am going to fish majority of the weekend coming up. i have enough gear now to really do the dam thing. it took me a little time to collect enough stuff to switch over from fresh to the salt, but i think i am ready to tangle with the snook and small tarpon that the surf has to offer.

if any of you are going to LW this weekend, send me a PM and i will give you my cell number.

fishing update 6oct10:
-got off work early today at 3:00pm and drove straight to the pier.
- when I got to the Pier is saw that the wave was high from the end of the pier to the stand.
- North east wind was about 20+
- paid my due and start fishing from 4:00pm
- the Blue fish was biting more was at the buttom.
- there was some ladie and spanish mac.
- I was able to hook 6 blue was only landed 2.
- these was nice size blue too not the small one.
- it is so long, last year the I finally got to fish some blue, so the first 4 that got away is to get my feet get again.
- when home at 7:00pm at this time the wind was still strong.
- Blue and mac as gone out some where.
- about 5:-6:00 was the most action because there were school of mullet running in and out, not large school more like a group.
NOTE the sea was so ruff today that there was no bait.
- I would said that if i had some frozen mullet , I would have caught more fish.
- I was using the Gotcha lure red head and chrome body.
Total count,
2 blue, 1 cuda, 1 mac, 1 pompano

Will have to try again hopefuly friday or Sat or Sun.
Hope the wind still keep up then.

The blue was well over the 12inch limit,
most was over 14 inch +
they were at the buttom hitting on this
- same for the spanish mac and lady.
- make sure you have the chrome body not the white plastic one.
- the reason for the chrome body, b/c it sink faster.

i like the chrome ones as well. they seem to reflect better. they make one with a hologram on the side, also. that is my favorite Gotcha they make. i haven't gotten into the blues recently, however i did catch some Spanish Maks, Ladyfish, Jacks, and runners on saturday. i fished the middle to the foot of the pier. the end was to crowded for me. i dont like being swarmed by people.

That looks too pretty to use.

Its even worse when you almost land a 20# jack and watch it pop off waiting on a net  Seriously though it has a lot of flash.
That stinks. Where is a gaff when you need one? :P
