there are plenty of sharks around all year. maybe not in quite the numbers as in the spring, however people are stupid to think that they are only around then.

Those fish in the first pic look like cobia, not sharks.JSheffey wrote:there are plenty of sharks around all year. maybe not in quite the numbers as in the spring, however people are stupid to think that they are only around then.

Arrived at 6.30 am today, great conditions, NE wind, lots of bait (sardines) but no fish at all by the time I left at 1 pm. Dolphins (porpoises) rolled through around 12, could have possibly ruined fishing for the day. Two bonito yesterday afternoon.

Re: Deerfield Pier Fishing Reports 2010 "ONLY REPORTS"
Been kind of ghost for a while on the forum, visiting family and the holidays of course pushing me away from my fishing. But I managed to get out there today. Oh, do I love it when theres fish.
Fished from 5:30am - 4:00pm
As i walked onto the pier, it was like a ghost-town. I could pick any spot on the entire pier. Wind was blowing about 15 to the southeast with REALLY good water color and and chop. I knew there would be some nice fish about. Caught my first cigar minnow and put it out just as the sun was coming up. Not even, 1 minute until the little avet sx starts ripping line and a curious kingfish comes skyrocketing out of the fishy water.
Went 2/5 on kings within the hour, along with my new fishin bud catching his first king off DFP. Great to see him doing it all on his own.
Played around with the Bonitas and mackerels throughout the day. Nice school of big jacks also blitz through. Total tally for the day was 3 Kings (10, 8, and a throwback) along with 4 bonitas and about 1/2 dozen mackeral. Nice day out for sure.

Re: Deerfield Pier Fishing Reports 2010 "ONLY REPORTS"
Gio, I feel the same way. Last time I fished Dania the entire T was lined with trolly rigged rods and people just siting there watching them. What pissed me off the most was when I learned that some lines were out with bait. Try to catch bait somewhere else to bait a trollied lined. When I go to Dania, I fish the surf for an hour or so. I land an occassional snook, blue, even a mack once, but no googans.pier-afficionado wrote:LOL, nope, sure I was at DFP, but yeah Dania last I went was the same. Takes away my desire to go fishing anymore. Funny thing I have known the people doing it for years, and remember when they were complete googies, well they are still googies, but bought some gear. I wonder if these guys ever work, as long as I can remember I always see the same culprits be it DFP or Dania, either that or they have the same days off I do, which would be very creepy.
Gio let's meet up and wet a line.

Moving north just a bit, to Deerfield Beach. Can someone tell me what the fees are to get onto the pier and parking?

I haven't been there for a while but it should be around $7.00 for pier and parking. You don't have to park several blocks away too. It is a lot cheaper than Anglins and their is fish to catch.mmcauliffe wrote:Moving north just a bit, to Deerfield Beach. Can someone tell me what the fees are to get onto the pier and parking?
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."
