So normally I'd be gearing up with a 2mm wetsuit and chasing hogs, snappers and lobsters in deeper water. However, unlike spearfishing, fly fishing just isn't that simple to me. So, what should I be hunting???? Fly selection? Shallow or deep? I fish fresh and saltwater so feel free to comment anything that swims in miami

Fly fisherman to the rescue!!! Where do you plan to fly fish, freshwater or saltwater, fly fishing off the beach in winter is good for bluefish and mackerel, big jacks also roam the beaches, any kind of big popper is great for the jacks and blues, both would put up a strong fight on any fly rod. In freshwater the peacock bite will begin to slow down as the cold comes in but they will still feed, the largemouth bite should be very hot, at least that's what I've noticed before, I heard bowfin are also active and will slam flies in freshwater as well, hope this helps you out man, I am a proud fly fisherman!!

Thanks for the help!! Got any idea what flies to use for bowfin and bass? Seems like my clouser has started to lose effectiveness with bass and I've never had luck with bowfin before.

I don't fly fish but I do know in the winter the sea trout do come in so get some red beads or red hooks

Tamiami Trail snook/tarpon/bass action tends to be better during low water in the dry months, and winter if you want to call it that, qualifies.
