Line help

Post by ChadPrimal »

I'm new to fly fishing and I have a floating line on my 8wht rod. I am thinking of fishing the east Greynolds park area and beach shorelines. Do I need to buy sinking line?

Do you get as hooked on the bottom with fly fishing as you do with spinner rod setup?

In general a floating line should do well in most cases
allthough I personally prefer an intermediate fly line for
fishing beaches.

As for getting stuck on the bottom it depends what
kind of fly you use and how the bottom is.
With non-weighted flies you fish the upper layer
of the water so no problems there.
When you toss a weighted clouser minnow you might
hit snags at times.

I only have used sinking lines when fishing inlets or
spots with a very heavy current.

I never fish in Dade but did on occasion in Broward where
I fished the beach, Port Everglades inlet and the Intracoastal.
