Black drum N. IRL 9/16

Post by Local66 »

Lots of fun, lots of fish, and miserably hot. Not a breath of wind. Here are a few shots. All were caught on #4 black clousers.

Nice catch.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Nice fish,

-What boat is that?
-And is there any reason for a Black Clouser? had it been me I wouldn't have even given it too much of a thought.

It's a lagoon heron 16', it belongs to my friend JB. Black drum have poor eyesight, contrast is more important than anythingh else. More black drum have been landed on black clousers than any other fly that I'm aware of.

Hey local- first of all, nice drum.
My question regards the use of a stripping basket on a boat, especially w/ "no wind". Are you just used to it, or do you think it offers an advantage. I usually only use mine in the surf when strong current is carrying my slack line away.

It depends on where I'm at/whose boat I'm on. JB's rig doesn't have toe rails, and that trolling motor isn't exactly fly line-friendly, then there's always the issue of my size 13's, seems like my line is always under foot when I don't use a basket. I probably could have gotten by without it that day, but yeah, I'm kinda used to it.
