lookin for ft. myers help..

I'm from michigan and am going to be staying on the south end of fort myers beach the 11-13 of dec., I'm mainly a DIY fly fisherman and do alot of beach fishing in Mexico, carp fishing in michigan, along with the salmon/steelhead thing. Wondering if this time of year there will be any fish off the beach or if I'm going to need to get into the backwaters. i really don't care what i'm catching, if it's in the salt i love it all. I'm not particularly looking for spots, but if any one want to offer I'll take em. I'm more concerned with what species might be in the surf, what flies....all I usually fish is as a white and green clouser, seems to work better than anything....I'm hoping for warm weather and low wind.
The hotel i'm staying at has a pontoon boat for rent and kayaks available so If i need to focus inside i'll be ok too.
If anyone on here ever wants any info on shore fishing in Mexico between Holbox island and Punta Allen I'd be glad to offer any assistance as well.
