AT Viper 1085 or 1087

We have a good many rod builders here and also those with much to offer about reels, so if you need help with Rods-Reels- or Wrapping do it here

I'm going to build myself a rod to specifically throw size 12 and 14 Rapalas with a Quantum Smoke 50 with 20lb braid. Which blank would you buid with that technique in mind? Thanks James

what is the weight of throw size 12 and 14 Rapalas?
how long the rod you want?

3/4oz and 1 3/4oz. I'm wanting a 9ft rod. Light weight with backbone
only the big and strong survive

I wouldn't say the viper is the lightest blank out there. Backbone it has and its a great blank. If you can get your hands on a lamiglass, or the surf rocket blanks. Or spend the money on a phoenix. I had two 9ft cobia rods made with the surf rocket blanks and they were definitely light. I believe they were a sub division of lami
