Last year I acquired a used Penn 115L2 and I noticed it comes with the HT-100 drag system. I haven't spooled yet, but I'm concerned about the drag. I put a bit of mono on it to test out the drag, and it isn't perfect.
The scale ranges from 9-11lbs under a constant hand pull. Is this choppiness at all normal? My jigmaster 500 has a much smoother drag. I'm planning on using the 9/0 on small-medium sharks.
Used Penn 9/0 - checking the drag before use?

Re: Used Penn 9/0 - checking the drag before use?
I had a look inside. Drag is dry, which is the way it comes from the factory. I noticed that some of the metal washers are not perfectly flat. I wonder what could have caused this? There was a bit of uneven wear on the HT-100 washers.
I mixed the HT-100 washers around and put it back together as per the schematic. Drag is a bit smoother now, but I'm sure the issue will return quickly due to the uneven wearing of the HT-100 washers.
Replace the whole drag or just the metal washers?
I really wonder what could have bent those washers...
