I've been using the Daiwa Emblem Surf rods from bass pro for awhile now. Problem with these rods guides blow out like nothing. Barley smack a guide and they break.
My issue is I was going threw my rods tonight and found one of my 12' Emblem rods missing 5 of the 8 guides. I have no clue when this happened, I havn't used the rod in awhile, in fact I can't even remember when it was used last, or what happened to it, dropped or what I don't know.
I really like these blanks and really like the rod, but now what do I do. Its a two piece and all the guides on the top half are screwed. I had a guide replaced at 7 seas awhile back and it cost me, well it cost me a couple bucks.
Do I scrap the rod at a 170 bucks and call it a loss or have the guides replaced for x amount of dollars and put to much into the rod then its worth.
I think the blank is great just the guides are crapolla. What would you do in this spot? Can someone give me a price on putting good surf casting guides on a 12' 2 piece blank? It would be strip the guides leave everything else and rewrap replace the guides. If not then I'll let it go and replace with another 12' off the rack. Problem is in these tight times who wants to spend the money. :toast:

IMO i would make it a weekend project and do it myself.. if all you are doing are the guides
its a no-brainer..

strip one guide out at a time and set them by using the other guides and just work them from
bottom to top till you are done..
I set mine with super glue till i'm ready to wrap... Trust me it isnt that hard to fix one
rod...
Google "Putting guides on a fishing rod" and you should get all kinds of sites to learn
from... plus by doing it this way
You can put some really nice guides on and not break the bank... and also keep your
rod :toast:
and if you take it slow they will come out pretty, but pretty and fishing don't go together
Hell the first ones i did look kinda of ugly... but they still catch fish

This would be a start

Oh i don't have any fancy tools to wrap it, i just use two boxes and cut out a V
put the rod on it and just rotate as the line is wrapping around the guides..
I just do it with my hands
