First Build

Post by Boatless Cuban »

As most of you know ive been looking for aetna foul proofs. I ordered some one ebay thinking they were alot bigger but came out to be sizes to put on a little spinner. So my uncle made me a rod building set while back and I decided to break it in and make a rod for my sustain. I had a rod laying around and i stripped it down and so far this is what i have. I wish i had a machine to wrap easier.

Welcome to the addiction.  I had a builder tell me once, when I first started, No matter how it turns out, always keep your first build. I still have my first build on the wall next to my wrapping table. Hand wrapping is the way to start as Ron said. You will develop a much greater understanding of threads and how they change and move when epoxy is applied. I congratulate you on your first build. Keep up the good work, it will only get better with each build. Anything we can do to help, just ask... There are plenty of builders here just waiting to help...

Totally agree with Ron and Wayne, things get better the more you do it and the more effort put forward into the builds.

Another thing besides what Ron and Wayne mentioned is that you also grow a deeper respect for the world and craftsmanship of Custom Rod Building. It makes you appreciate it so much more due to the understanding of hard work, knowledge, and dedication that go into a build since you know first hand the steps that go into it.

I'm out. :pistols:
