Hey guys,
For my next rod, I'm thinking of a metallic underwrap with black overwraps. I heard that regular nylon (non-ncp) turns more black when epoxy is applied on a black blank.

My question is that if this black is over a blue underwrap, will the black turn translucent like other colors, and the underwrap would be visible with epoxy?

Thanks for your help.

i never had a problem with black ncp, just double wrap it if needed, the one you have to worry is the metallic blue with the black blank under, make sure you pack it real good.

Ive used black over metallic red before and as long as you pack and burnish the black thread well you cant see through the black.

black "nylon" over dark metallic will be fine.. just pack it tight..
and if its for a shark rod then you should be putting a second layer over that any way..

but if it is size a with a bright color like gold or silver it may change it a little..

stay with ncp and you dont have to worry about it..

Yeah, it for the shark rod. Was going to use the black nylon with two wraps, but will just do two with the ncp, so I don't have to worry about it.

2 wraps with D wouldn't be enough? If I have to do three, I will do three, just asking.
