I have seen a lot of 12-14/0 reels and even heard of 16/0 Penn Reels. However i have not seen a new one in a store yet. where does a man find a new XXXL Reel? Do they still make them? if not, what company makes the new equivalents?

The 12/0 is the largest Senator that is still made. You can find 14/0's pretty easily on Ebay, 16/0's are harder to find and more expensive but still around too.

Equivalents of a 14/0 and a 16/0 would be an 80w and a 130w..speaking in size only..These reels are much more "modern"..and have MUCH more drag.

You wanna go serious sharking huh?

14/0 or 16/0 is a beast.

I saw an old 16/0 on sale at the counter in BPS a while back.

Not sure if they are even allowed to do that at BPS

If you wanna get a 14/0 or 16/0 try to buy them locally, I bought my 14/0 off ebay and got pretty ripped, their was a major problem with the spool and i needed to have a lot repaired. I've spent over $100 repairing it and I thought I caught a deal buying a 14/0 for $220.

a 16/0........ that is bigger than a man heads. imagine how heavy it would be just holding it let alone strap to it during battle. ppl will look at a person very funny if they saw him or her with a 16/0. i have actually seen one up close and i will definitely stick with my 50w anytime. 8)

A 16/0 isn't any bigger in diameter then a 14/0, it is just a couple inches wider for more line capacity. I used to fish a 14/0 for the shark tourneys, it is an awkward reel to fish without a harness just because of its weight but is hard to beat if you want something that can be beat up to hell and still catch fish. If I see a good price on a 14/0 I would pick one up even though I don't shark fish seriously very often anymore.
