The time has finally come to get a rod for my Avet sx. I plan to use it for a lighter tackle setup with 20 lb. mono (sticking with mono until I learn to cast, so if I have to cut up a birds nest it isn't as costly). Hoping to work some spinners and lures to find some tarpon and bass out here in Coral Springs, but to also have a setup that is suitable for going for free lining on party boats for muttons and yellowtail.
I had a Shimano Teramar 7' medium-heavy/extra fast picked out, then I just learned that as of August 1, 2014, Shimano no longer offers the lifetime warranty it used to offer, and has replaced it with a limited 1-year warranty. Now I'm back in the hunt for a rod.
I'm looking for something comparable in performance to the Teramar, but hopefully with a better warranty. I would like to stick to around $100.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, I was incredibly disappointed. From a Google search, Shimano even have made that change even with respect to previously sold rods.Poseidon10/31 wrote:Noooooo!!!! Just grabbed a 7' Star Stellar Lite, rated for 15-25 lb. Hoping this works out well. Was torn between this and the St. Croix Mojo Inshore, but the slightly lower price, made in USA, and (albeit limited) lifetime warranty of the Star sold me.
