i know its kind late but since nobody has put up any sharks lately i figured i should to keep the board some what alive!!

the black tip challenge was a pretty short and quick this year..

i was really hoping for a big fish and was just trying to catch one by trying to use large baits and hoping the blacktips would leave the baits alone..

but the first 2 nights all that happend was the black tips were chewing up my good baits..
every bait i dropped got picked up by a tip or smaller shark..i wasnt trying to hook them just hoping they would drop the bait for a bigger shark to come along and pick it up..

so by staurday my thoughts were if you cant beetem joinem..so i decided to use smaller baits and try to hook some tips,,i guess catching tips is better then nothing and because the biggest black tip prize was over 500.00..

so on saturday i went out with my down sized gear and baits and managed to catch 7 sharks total between me and melissa..she caught a bull shark and a tip while i got to reel in the rest..

not the biggest sharks but still fun and had a good time!! maybe next year we will get another biggin!!

Great report and pix Pete. PROPS to Melissa as well. Good 'goin! LOL. I've 'gotta start using my tail rope. A fat female BT messed up my left leg (upper calf) pretty good on the 17th. Just (finally) started healing a few days ago. Massive infections are not good.

After I got the hook out of a fat female around 6' 1" to 6' 2" she went ballistic when I was getting her back in the water and peeled a large area of skin off my inner leg. I was really surprised at it's severity but didn't think too much of it @ the moment. However, this kind of stuff can deteriorate quickly in a day or two. After two weeks it finally started to slowly heal with pennicillan and stuff. Large raw open wounds and saltwater don't mix too well 'cos of all the germs. If you get cut deep @ least you can tape it shut. Every once in a blue moon you run into a BT that is really crazy. Tail ropes are the way to go when they're nuts like that - or all the time - for that matter.

Yeah, shark rash can get infected quick. I usually grab the tips by the tail too, I bring a tail rope but by the time I land them it is 50 yards down the beach from my gear.

Not a bite. Been close a few times. Lol (just ask Josh). More like a cosmetic/surgical removal of a piece of flesh the size of your hand. Oh well, live and learn. ;) When something like this happens all I can think of is those stories of the flesh eating bacteria that many fisherman have encountered.
