Honestly the best bait to use i something fresh, caught that day in that area, If you're fishing off the beach Cudas, Jacks, Ladyfish are good. Macks aren't the best beach bait. They make exceelent swim baits and flipped baits off piers.

I use ladyfish, mullet, jack crevelle, mackerel, trout, ray, catfish..basically anything I can get that is legal to kill. My favorite is a big ladyfish that I can get 2 good baits out of but does not stay on the hook as well..but I love how jack crevelle steaks stay on the hook so well, catfish also. I But I'm fishing for tarpon, though I do get some shark action on all these baits..All the spots I fish at are LOADED with greenbacks, I will cast net those and use those to catch the real bait then chunk it off the beach as far as I can. I prefer to use cut baits that were caught that day at the spot, however i will save some for later to freeze..if it still looks nice and fresh when you freeze it, with some color on the meat, its most likely still good bait. I actually caught my biggest snook ever on a piece of frozen ladyfish, it was awesome.

Fresh cuda and jacks are my top 2. Permit carcasses always get slammed, when you can get them.

Jack heads and Bonita Chunks seemed to work best for me.

I like using Bonnethead and Cudas.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

I like anything live. Even Sailcat under a balloon works well here. I have very little luck with dead baits here.

Bolo, I have thought of using bonetheads, if not too taboo. How do you hook them? Live or dead?
