Does anyone know what this is?

Thought it might be a shark egg. Thoughts or someone know?

Shark eggs are a little smaller I believe. Looks like some sort of mollusk shell to me like clam or mussel of some sort... Looks cool though

El oh el

It is sealed up one side and the other is open. Has blunt spines on the big end. The wife found it in the surf. Its really cool looking. The casing is kinda thin.

It is a member of the mollusk family possibly a welk of some sort.

if i may,.....
stiff pen shell(Atrina rigida) they produce black pearls..10% finders fee if u shuck it open....

Used ta find hundreds of them either one side or pieces.... always called them mother of pearl unless you stepped on one barefoot ten ya called them somthing else

Shark egg casing are softer and usually semi-transparent. You can often see the developing shark inside on the species I have dealt with eggs. I'll see if I can find a pic to post
