splicing stranded cable to hollow spectra

Anybody ever tried doing a inline splice with stranded cable into hollow core spectra.I was thinking about trying it for a castable leader for shark fishing from the beach.I'm having trouble getting a good cast with the longer leader attached with a swivel.looking for ideas. thanks Joe
