I have a Penn 114 H2 special senator/ Penn slammer rod combo.
I really want to go with a braided line for the extra line capacity so that I can get my bait 4 to 5 hundred yards out and still have enough line for the fish to run if he needs too
I just want to know would I be better off going with a lower pound mono or can I use 80 lb braid (power pro)?
Im just wondering what type of line would stand up better to the abrasion from the sandbars?

And also I would like to see some different leader setups as well, I have no one to talk to about saltwater fishing so Im having to rely on information I get from saltwater fishing forums online, because I live in Arkansas and I will only be saltwater fishing a few times a year (Untill I by a house on the ocean somewhere :D ) lol...
any recommendations or any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks

Welcome

Try the search feature here. Not a Sharker, can tell you to stay with the braid. Not a fan of Power Pro but line is a personnel preference. You can tie, splice, or use a wind on leader to wire. Size and length of wire depends on your target, generally you want a body length including tail. Shark skin cut's line quick. Keep hardware to a minimum. Knots leave almost no bubble trail while cutting through the water during a fight. Swivels are usually mistaken by other fish as a bait fish and they'll strike, cutting all but the wire leader, the mono leader it's connected to however is toast. Always use a tail rope to land big Sharks. Better for the fish and easier on you.

And what ever you do stay away from those "Team Rebel" guy's, they're trouble!

I don't know if it's against the rules to post this (link to another site), but this answered a lot of my questions:

However, I have yet to put their suggestions into practice... as I live quite far away from sharking grounds :P.

I still have the question of whether to back with 60lb braid or just go mono all the way.
