Sharking near/ out of an inlet

Post by Jordan »

We want to try a new sharking spot since our spot right now gets wayyyyyy too crowded and we want to try near one of the inlets since usually when we're over near them there aren't too many people around. Do we just drop baits at the same distance? Can we float a bait out? I know the tides and surf can be crazy IN the inlet but what about the surrounding area. Thanks for any help.

The inlets can be tricky with the current and thhe boat traffic as well.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Don't know how to fish it. Do know there tend to be more Sharks around inlets. In fact the ISAF and the GSAF both say not to swim near inlets beause there's more Sharks in those area's. Can't speak for size.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

A major issue is boat traffic running over the lines. It sucks bad. Boaters don't care what you are up to around an inlet. Give a try like Jettypark said it can be done.

Certain inlets holds big sharks. I would fish late at night and put the bait to the bottom. Don't fish next to the inlet but near it and you should be OK with the boat traffic.

Ageed bait on bottom and keep some distance. Fish it late at night when very little traffic. Your still gonna get some boaters that feel the need to cruise the shoreline north or south out of the inlet.

For boats to close try the fake rope thing. Just act like your pulling a rope they wont know. Make sure you have enough light on you for them to see you. Don't know if it will work but it's worth a try. if it works it could catch on. Won't work in the day time because they can see to well but at night you might get away with it. Let us know if you try it and if it works.

Get an air horn too. Boaters know that sound at east you can get their attention to attempt to keep them out of your lines. Inlets can pay off huge!!!!!!!!!! For every 1 you land you will lose 4 or 5, but that one is so worth it.

you will'n to travel? well first off you got to choose a beach near the inlet. let see... there's jupiter to the far north, lake worth just south of there,( you need to get dropped off though) and boynton(if you can park around there at night. those are the best choices i can think of unless you wanna go further than that. $h!t... all the sharks me and the other person were hooking into yesterday was near an inlet.

Inlets hold the tarpon, and bait therefore there a big sharks around em. You need to walk down a ways from the actual inlet cuz of all the boat traffic goin in and out of em.. it sucks gettin your reel stripped cuz some guy on a boat crosses it. Kayak your bait way out into deep water and drop it with a rock as weight.. and you shouldnt have much trouble with the boaters cuttin you off since the line is so far under the water. Also as a precaution try bringing a spotlight and shining it on the line if you see a boat coming in close. This will get their attention.. just dont shine it in their face.
