Visiting St. Augustine, no gear, no license, need to fish

Post by NeilAgg »

Hey everyone:

My girlfriend brought me to St. Augustine to see her mom.
They want to go out for a spa day tomorrow (Monday 5/26) so
I have it all to myself.

I would love to fish and maybe bring home something to cook
for dinner. I live in Texas so a fishing license seems to be a
problem unless I fish off the St. Johns County Ocean Pier.
Is that correct?

Now, the problem is I don't have the gear. I tried to find fishing
rod rentals but could not find anything.

Can someone recommend where to fish and where I can get the
gear to do so?

Thanks,
Neil

I'd google local party/head boats if I were you. A few more dollars but a lot better chance of catching dinner
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

We are taking a charter on Tuesday. I was hoping to use my free day on Monday to get outside.

Ok don't know anything at all about shore fishing that area and seldom see reports on here from it. Unless there is a fishing pier in the area I doubt anyone rents rods. Jacksonville is the only pier I can think of up that way other than Daytona.

There is a fishing pier here. It is called the St. Johns County Ocean Pier.
Here is their web site:

I guess I will go down there and check it out.

Thanks,
Neil
