I saw some yesterday being caught on live shrimp but as for myself I don't think I could bring myself to buy live bait to catch live bait.

If its from the pier use a 4-6lb leader and a gog bug, you can purchase the gog bug from T&R tackle down the street, get a few colors. Let the gog bug sink toward the bottom and jig it up with short pumps, sometime you dont need to reel you just jig it and let it sink. I've also caught them on small hooks and bait, particularly silversides on a fish finder rig.

What # of lines do you recommend for main and leader to catch goggle eyes?
I used 6LB main but it seems I need thinner...

There is definitely a jig specifically for gogs. I saw the sneaky Rare one using it at Anglins. The dik tried to tell me it was for pomps but I knew better although I'm sure the silver jacks would chase it. It was kinda the size and shape of a nickel with a hook on it. His color of that day was chartreuse if I remember correctly. Rare catches gogs for bait at Anglins for all of the great trips he never invites me on. Hope that was one of his most secret techniques I just blew up lol

PM not necessary. You gonna high stick gogs or fish like a human? That will determine the lightest test you could successfully use. Probably 50lb. Ande pink for your style.

Good thing you remind me of high stick...I almost forgot to ship back my St Croix...
BTW, high stick Gogs will be flown over from Anglin to Dania...lol
