how do you fish those Gotcha lures? just cast and retrieve?

When used for their intended use (spanish macs, bluefish, bonito, etc), you bring in with a fairly quick retrieve with a lot of rod tip action. However, I've never fished for pompano with those (and never knew they'd even hit one). But in any regards, the Gotcha plug should be diving a lot, held in the proper part of the water column by twitching the rod.
