No fishing for me (I had to work this weekend
But I did go to the DI Pier to attend a memorial service for a good fishing buddy (member of the ACFA) who recently passed away.
That old guy LOVED this pier and the people who fish on it
And they loved him
Banditt's widow "Banderetta" says goodbye...
After that family members and friends dropped roses and one of his custom rods into the water...
As the memorial drifted away with the current the roses seemed to surround the fishing rod...
That rod had been broken some time ago by a redfish...
And as if on cue, the ONLY guy fishing on the pier at that time bowed up to a good fish...
And it turned out to be nice upper slot redfish...
WE hung around for an hour or so reminescing and I took some pics of the sand filling in around the pier.
Here's the view along the east side...
and to west...
From the west T looking toward Dauphin Island...
From the east T looking toward Dauphin Island...
including the sandbar by the beach that has built in with the incoming tides...
And the view southward from the end...
Beach views of the west side...
and the east side...
It's remarkable that any fish can still be caught there at times.
Maybe "Banditt" will put in a good word for us
God's peace old friend
