NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS Sealed Bids will be received by the Commissioner c/o Engineering Section of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources at the Gulf State Park Headquarters Conference Room, 20115 Highway 135, Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542 (telephone: 251-948-7275), until 2:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time, July 26, 2007, and at that time opened and read aloud publicly in Room 469 for: NEW GULF STATE PARK PIER AND SEAWATER INTAKE SYSTEM GULF SHORES, ALABAMA STATE PROJECT NO. 5-P-368 (NEW PIER) STATE PROJECT NO. 5-MR-394 (SEAWATER INTAKE SYSTEM) THOMPSON PROJECT 05-4023-0010 The work shall generally consist of constructing a 1,512 foot by 20 foot wide concrete public fishing pier, concession area, restroom facilities, roadway and parking area, and a seawater intake system which includes a pumping station and pipeline in accordance with the project plans and specifications. All work shall be done under applicable State Laws. Schedule is included with specifications. Attention is directed to the fact that the provisions of Act 84-227 of the 1984 Legislature will not apply to this project. Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents will be open to public inspection at the Plan Rooms of F.W. Dodge Corporation in Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama; and also on file in the office of the Chief of Engineering Section, Folsom Administrative Building, Room 479, Montgomery, Alabama. A Pre-Bid meeting is scheduled for July 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at the Gulf State Park Headquarters Conference Room, 20115 Highway 135, Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542 (telephone: 251-948-7275), unless prior arrangements are made prior to that date. Contract Documents and Plans may be obtained only from the office of Thompson Engineering (attention: Dana Glass), 2970 Cottage Hill Road, Suite 190, Mobile, Alabama 36606 (telephone 251.666.2443), only upon payment of a charge of two hundred fifty ($250) Dollars, which will not be refunded. The Contractor shall include with his check for the Plans and Specifications his mailing address, street address, telephone number, General Contractors License No., Federal ID No. and whom to contact. Proposal forms will be issued only to qualified Contractors or their representatives upon requests that are received before 1:00 P.M. C.S.T. on the day previous to the opening of bids. Bids must be on the proposal forms obtained from Thompson Engineering (no reproduced copies of these documents will be accepted) and accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the contract bid price, but not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000). Also included with proposal at bid opening shall be an executed copy of Disclosure Statement: Act 2001-955. A Performance Bond in the amount of 100% and a Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract price will be required of the successful bidder. For contracts in excess of $50,000, attention is called to the Contractor's Alabama License Law Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975. Contractor must be licensed under the General Contractor Classification. Notice of Sales & Use Tax Exemption: Materials incorporated into the Work are exempt from sales and use tax pursuant to Section 40-9-33, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended. General Contractors and subcontractors interested in bidding are advised to contact the Sales, Use, & Business Tax Division of the Alabama Department of Revenue for information regarding required qualifications for exemption. Attention: Contractors using the US Postal Service to deliver their bids overnight should note that the post office does not deliver directly to our building. They are delivered to the State mail room, which means that they may not reach us prior to the bid opening: therefore if you must use their services please call so that we may check with the State mailroom prior to bid opening.
