Over night bridge trips
Hey all,
I wanted to head down for my birthday and do like a 24 hour fishing trip with my girl and some friends. I already read a bunch of threads on where to go and what tackle is needed but I was wondering what everyone brings out there for over night trips. Tents, chairs anything I normally wouldn't think of that you would need out there. This is going to be my first experience staying over night at the bridges so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take a cat with you or the rats will eat all your food and sleep next to you

First off you are a lucky dog if your girl is willing to do the trip with you. This time of year you can really get cold on the bridges so bring layers of warm clothes. The steady breeze will make you freeze at 75 degrees.
The use of tents are prohibited on the bridges so you may be inviting a visit from a deputy if you set one up. You still need to bring some sort of wind break/shade if you leave the tent. I bring a chair and sleep in it.
If you want any good info on snook spots send a pm to grunt king. He also recently published his cell number if you feel like calling.
Good luck

Just make sure they understand it's a 24hr thing if you are doing it. The beach chairs are fine that you take to the beach, but an antigravity chair will be your day chair and your sleeping chair. This chair is a great buy if you are planning on doing this often. We do a Friday to Sunday trip & them uncomfortable beach chair suck. A small weber BBQ. Keep it simple, dogs, burgers- this will cook fast and have you back to fishing in no time. My group has gone gucci on me since i started to bring, t-bone steak, rib eye, others started bring lobster, homemade cookies, potato salad. Like i said, burgers, and dogs is quick and gets you back in action.
You cant have your tent up. You can put it up, but if they come and see it up they will ask you to take it down. Buy a sport-brella & bungee cords. This is okay to have with you. Keeps you out the heat & if it rains keep your stuff dry or 3 of your party members. Light, so simple but folks forget the head lights. A good lantern or two or 2/3 of the LED lantern. First Aid kit cause you never know. Bring a sweater and fleece...The nights out there can get chilly. Bug spray cause you never know.

That reminds me of...
When I was doing commercial fishing, we had 5 Gal bucket and half filled with sea water and took care of your business and dumped it to sea, and threw the bucket to sea and cleaned it...

Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

You haven't had the pleasure of being woken up at 4am and telling you take it down now or get a ticket. At the same time I've seen you fishing here and you should have known better. It's a gamble....ndog wrote:Dont worry about the tent thing too much....especially if you go to the longer bridges....just take it down at sun up

PhishingPhanatic, funny you said that. Right after I posted this I thought about it, probably best to leave her at home lol.
Thanks for all the tips.
