New member visiting Fort Lauderdale

Hello everyone,
I'm a new member and first want to say what a great resource this is. I live in nj and primarily fish fresh water. I visit my mom in sunrise a couple times a year and fish as much as possible. My brother and i usually rent a boat for a few days and or go on charters. This trip I came alone and for the past week have been looking for a decent spot. I went to boynton inlet, pioneer park, and Sullivan park but only caught a few tiny fish. I also went on a drift boat but the water was so choppy I couldn't enjoy the few fish I caught.
I'll be heading back to nj on Thursday and would appreciate if anyone could recommend a good spot. I've been looking forward to fishing this trip for months and I'm so disappointed. Really dying to catch a good size fish.
I welcome any help. Thanks so much!
Lisa
