I am planning a month vacation very soon in the Deerfield Beach area and was wondering what species should be targeted during the month of April along the coastline since I will be fishing from piers, beaches, and inlets when time permits itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, my name is Bill and I grew up in south Florida, but as luck would have it after joining the USN I eventually settled in Virginia. I am planning someday to live in both regions 6/6 if the Gods so decide to choose this for me.

April will be the tail end of the spring run of pompano , mackeral, and bluefish. Tarpon should start migrating through by then as well. The headboats should be hitting snapper, kingfish, and bonito. There will be snapper around at the inlets and piers as well. Also the old standbys of snook and jacks will be around . Don't overlook freshwater fishing for largemouth bass, peacock bass, and snakeheads also. Always something biting somewhere down here.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Deerfield Pier is good but it is great when the T is open. Last I heard it was still closed.
