Hi all!
I recently relocated to south Palm Beach county from the midwest and I love to fish, but salt water fishing is new to me. I've always just done bass lure or bait fishing with a hook and bobber.
I have no idea what to do when it comes to fishing in salt water on like the inner-coastal or even off piers. All of my gear is for fresh water so I have no idea what to buy or what I can use of my current gear.
Any suggestions or tips on where to fish and what type of gear I need would be helpful.
Are there any groups that get together and fish from on here on the weekends? I'd love to learn some tricks of the trade for salt water fishing.
Thanks!
Justin

I expect sometime Sept or Nov there will be BL fishing trip somewhere in middle key and you won't want to miss it.
First, get fishing license and snook stamp.
As far fishing gear goes, you may be able to use most of your gear for sabiki rig to catch live baits, some for small/middle snapper, mackerel, and boat fishing.
10LB line rod can be reused for sabiki or mackerel crapie jig. 20LB line rod can be used for most fish in pier
You will need live well 5 gal bucket.
You may need some long cast set up for upcoming pompano fishing like 10 ~ 12 ft rod and spinning reel 6000.
I recommend to learn hawking to catch snook from GruntKing when he feels like to have another session.
I could see bass fisherman can be quite good at it.
Later, you can have conventional rod and reel for shark, etc.

Wow ok thanks for the info. In Indiana I could go to walmart and get a fishing license. Is that still the case down here?

Hello and welcome
Some Walmarts do have licenses or just go online to FWC
