I'm a regular at the Matlacha Bridge leading to Pine Island. I've done well up there thanks to the guidance of a few "old timers" and "young guns." The trick for me was learning how to use the features of the bridge when targeting the resident Snook.
I had a great season. My best night was 15 Snook on the bridge. Many nights were spent shooting the breeze and nothing landed. I caught several Snook over slot (I have pics of them all). I have landed 4 of 6 Tarpon that took the bait. My biggest Goliath Grouper has been 26". All told...I kept enough Snook to fill my freezer and released my fair share of keeper size Snook as well.
I caught my first Red fish (27.250") on the Fort Myers pier. Also landed my first Jack(s) on the FM pier too. Great fight!
