Melbourne Beach Fishing

Post by PSMITTY25 »

Im from Wilmingotn NC and going to Melbourne Beach in late March for a week to visit my girlfriends Grandparents. i will be staying for a week and need to find some spots to fish for Trout. Been twice before and fished the pier on the river at Melbourne Beach and only caught small trout. Any help would be greatly appreciated since i wont be ablel to afford a charter. Thanks in advance.

IMHO, I wold hit Sebastian inlet and target some snook and reds, but if you really want to catch some big trout then get yourself a mirrodine and a pack of DOA shrimp in gold glitter. Along the river you will see a load of docks... The people own these docks, and the land around them, but they do not own the water, so find a parking spot, get into the water and wade next to some docks. First try the mirrodine because it is a much faster bait than the DOA, and fan cast everywhere from right next to the docks, to the open water. If this doesn't work then switch to the DOA and do the same thing... You might even catch other fish like reds, founder or snook.... In Sebastian/Melbourne it is almost unavoidable that you will catch lady fish too... Usually after a couple of docks you will find some nice spots, and some huge fish... Good luck, and let us know how you do!
