Hi all,
I'm originally from Minnesota and used to fish all the time up there. Since I've moved to Florida, I just haven't had the chance until my son asked me the other day, "Dad, will you go fishing with me?"
I prefer freshwater fishing, yet the 2 times we've tried that (granted, from the shore at Lake Tarpon, at Taylor Sr Park (the park on the south side of the lake)) we had a few strikes, but didn't land anything. I've had people say we should try saltwater fishing, with Sand Key Park, Philippe Park, and Fort DeSoto, along with the Causeway being mentioned. We're a bit limited in our mobility, so can't travel far, but any freshwater holes worth wetting a line in (largemouth bass, or sunfish or crappies) or a good saltwater spot where I could get my son into the enjoyment of actually catching fish, would me much appreciated ...

You can try skyway, as there will always be pinfish there, as well as many macks if you hit it at the correct day. Ask the baitshop there and they'll show you how to catch them.

That was one that some people offered up too. I'll pass it by my son and see what he thinks, thank you!
