Went out of PE with a couple friends, plan was to deep drop for golden tiles. Hooked one (it was a nice one too, easy 20 lber) and when it was floating on the surface about 10 feet from the boat, the 80 lb Power Pro on my friend's electric reel just popped, nothing rubbing or abrading it. Lost the fish, 5 lb weight, deep drop rig and light, I told him he should have used Jerry Brown instead. Picked up some rosies as by-catch, then made a move for barrelfish. Caught 4 of them on 5 drops, all nice fish in the 20-30 lb range. Haven't tried any yet (will tonight) but the other guys said they are awesome, similar to tilefish but sweeter.

For sure, I had to put ice on it this morning to bring down the swelling.

Yep, it is really good. Consistency is similar to grouper, but it tastes more like tilefish. Very firm, white, sweet flakey meat.
